Fillings are recommended when the doctor finds a cavity in your tooth. Composite fillings are white, tooth-colored fillings that blend in visually with the patient’s natural teeth. They are very durable and with proper home care, healthy diet, and routine dental visits they will last many years!
Crowns and Bridges
Crowns (sometimes called caps) are used to restore individual teeth that are badly decayed, broken or cracked, or weakened by a large filling or by root canal therapy. We are conservative in our use of crowns – if a filling can do the job and promises to be a lasting solution, the doctors recommend filling the tooth. But if the tooth is badly damaged or weakened by decay or trauma, a crown can mean the difference between saving the tooth or losing it. A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth, looks great, and literally bridges the gap where one or more teeth may have been. The crowns and bridges can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials.
